The route
Chur, then the Julier Pass.
The motorway follows Lake Zürich and the Walensee to Chur. From there the road climbs through Lenzerheide and Savognin to the Julier Pass, at 2,284 metres, then comes down at Silvaplana, a few minutes from St. Moritz.
The Julier is kept open through the winter. About three hours from Zürich Airport in normal conditions; on the busiest Saturdays of the season, we leave earlier.
In heavy snow
The Vereina, the other way in.
After a heavy snowfall the Julier can close for a few hours. The car then takes the other way: up the Prättigau to Klosters, onto the Vereina car train through the mountain to Sagliains, and up the Engadin to St. Moritz. Your chauffeur checks the passes before leaving and chooses the better route.
In St. Moritz
To the door, in town or along the valley.

In midwinter the lake of St. Moritz freezes hard enough to host polo in January and horse racing on the ice in February. On those weekends the hotels fill, and the cars with them: book the car when you book the room.

Yes, it is kept open all winter. After heavy snow it can close for a few hours; we then take the Vereina car train from Klosters.

Yes. Winter tyres and chains are on board through the season.
